Bermuda Weddings

This 22 square mile Island is situated in the middle of the Atlantic ocean just two hours from the east coast of the United States. Despite its apparent isolation Bermuda is the personification of an island paradise. Steeped in colonial English tradition, Bermuda is a covered by beautiful green gardens, bustling towns which are populated by pastel houses and on the southern side of the island beautiful sandy beaches featuring off shore coral reefs.

The Island is also well known for its housing of off shore banking and insurance corporations

  • The official currency is the Bermudian Dollar, although US currency is widely accepted, as well as major credit cards
  • The average temperature of Bermuda during the hottest parts of the year (May-October) ranges between 75-85ºF. During the winter months, the average temperature is 60 to 70 degrees
  • English is the official language of Bermuda

 

NEED TO KNOW FACTS FOR MARRIAGE

  • A passport is required for entry valid for 6 months after the date of travel.
  • You will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage. Download a Notice of Intended Marriage form or request one from the Bermuda Registrar General's office or the Bermuda Department of Tourism office nearest to you.
  • Fill out the form and mail it back to the Registrar General along with a cashier's check or bank draft made payable to the Accountant General, Hamilton, Bermuda, in the amount of BM$243 (includes certificate). Copies of final divorce decrees or death certificates, if applicable, must also be included. This submitted notice will result in a wedding license valid for three months.
  • You or a designated person may pick up this license at the Registrar office.
  • You need to be on the island 24 hours before the marriage for the wedding license pick up.
  • Under 18's need consent forms from the Registrars office and parents
  • All documents must be notarized including a declaration certifying that neither party has been married before. Divorcees need their original final decree or a certified copy and widows will need a copy of the death certificate.
  • All documents are to be faxed for review and then submitted by courier (i.e. FedEx) at least one (1) month prior to desired wedding date.
  • No blood test is required.
  • Your marriage must also be in the presence of two or more witnesses, apart from the Marriage Officer.
