 St. Lucia

St Lucia, Carribbean

Legend has it that Saint Lucia resonates with stories of lovers. So much so that St Lucia was chosen by ABC's hit romance series "The Bachelor: On The Wings Of Love" for their final episodes. And no surprise, every moment is romance.....from an afternoon yachting escape to being wrapped up in the glow of moonlight above an indigo ocean.

At the edges of St Lucia's deep tropical forests stand two imposing peaks known to the locals as the Pitons. These dark volcanic mountains are the perfect back drop to your romantic getaway.

The island has an interesting heritage having changed hands between the English and the French over ten times during its history.

Whether you're after romance, rejuvenation or adventure Saint Lucia is your destination. A genuine, natural landscape of gorgeous palm fringed beaches, miles of unspoilt rainforest and the majestic Piton Mountains are sure to indulge every taste.

The perfection of this escape should be shared. Bask together under the Caribbean sun, sail into the champagne sunset, and cuddle beneath the vast starry sky. Discover new romance and re-spark old love love over a candle lit dinner on a secluded beach.

Adventure seekers can surf and sail in the pristine waters. ATV adventures and rainforest zip-lining are favorites of all ages. Relaxation is never far away however and many resorts offer kid's activities so parents can enjoy a cocktail, a quiet few hours together or even a couples massage. On-site water parks, kid's menu's and evening entertainment will keep the little ones occupied.

Getting married in Saint Lucia will be an unforgettable experience. Saint Lucia has won the "World's Leading Honeymoon Destination" award for 2002-2004 and 2006-2008. Surrounded by beautiful sand beaches and spectacular lush rainforest, few island destinations around the world can compete. Simply put, Saint Lucia is one of the most romantic islands you will ever visit.

There are a number of charming restaurants to choose from on the island, often locally owned and operated. Executive Chefs offer rich culinary pleasures. Some diners are family friendly, others are intimate under the stars affairs, either way guests are treated as connoisseurs and sampling the wine list is a must. The Chefs incorporate the rich culinary traditions of Escoffier with local and global ingredients inspiring new cuisines. International dishes are inspired by Western and East European's flavors mesh with traditional Caribbean cooking. If you are looking to sample local foods make sure to try the sharp tasting "Yerbe Hole" basil which often accompanies the "Catch of the day".

Most of the resorts are in or close to the island's two main towns: Castries, the island's capital, and Sourfriere, a sleepy seaside town nestling at the foot of the spectacular Piton Mountains. Locals say that Saint Lucia offers a memorable, intimate experience while other Caribbean islands are more dedicated to tourists in t-shirts. As a result a visit to Saint Lucia tends to be a quieter, low key experience to savor.

Spa's are a big feature of many resorts. The Soufriere Volcano, to the south, supplies mineral rich mud and steam baths unique to the Island. Resort Spa's harvest these natural resources for use in some of the most sophisticated spa treatments on the planet. Mud baths are an ancient technique treating everything from skin ailments to arthritis. Mineral baths are another ancient ritual for healing and heath. The rich waters in Saint Lucia provide therapeutic refreshment for tired, stressed or tense muscles. Don't leave the Island however without sampling a shiatsu or hot stone massage overlooking the vibrant ocean waters. Natural aromatics and a gentile breeze create the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. Let yourself go in Saint Lucia!
